When it comes to dining in Kenosha, there is no shortage of options for locals and visitors alike! Italian restaurants are popular across the country, and no matter where you are in the Kenosha Area, there is a great Italian option in every part of the city! I was introduced to several of my (now) husband’s favorite places when we started dating years ago and we have added a few new go-to places for awesome Italian food together. The best part is that Kenosha is home to both “Red Sauce” joints as well as more Tuscan-style Italian venues, too. Here are a few of our favorites…

Casa Capri is located on Kenosha’s north side and has been a local institution for over 50 years! Well-known for its fine dining atmosphere as well as excellent service, Casa Capri offers a classic Italian dining experience. Family owned and operated, Casa Capri’s menu features a large variety of cibo delizioso (delicious food). I am a personal fan of good, old-fashioned spaghetti and meatballs with marinara sauce and Casa’s homemade pasta does not disappoint! If you’re not in the mood for pasta, Casa Capri also offers salads, steaks, chicken, seafood and pizza, all made fresh to order. One of the things that continues to amaze me about Kenosha is that even though it is the fourth largest city in Wisconsin, it feels like a small town where everyone knows everyone - this is a testament to the friendliness of the people here, and walking into Casa Capri reminds me of walking into an open-air, family owned neighborhood bistro in Italy. The food is flavorful, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is classic, what more can you ask for?

If you find yourself traveling along I-94, another great option for Italian dining is Tuscany Bistro Bar & Grill. An authentic, family owned and operated establishment, Tuscany Bistro provides an elegant dining atmosphere with unique dishes based on original Italian family recipes. The restaurant is large but still offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The wait staff is efficient and attentive to customers’ needs – the level of service makes the experience feel even more upscale. I can say first-hand that the Chicken Parmigiana is fantastic! It is with a side of perfectly al dente spaghetti, and the chicken is moist and flavorful. The portions here are generous and dinners are served with a house salad and warm bread and oil. When in Rome (see what I did there?), it’s encouraged to try dessert as well! Tuscany Bistro offers a wide variety of homemade desserts – including my favorite Limoncello or Key Lime Cheesecake. There is a great banquet room for group dinners or meetings, too.

If you find yourself closer to the Downtown district in Kenosha, Villa D’Carlo is your go-to for authentic Italian food! This iconic, family owned restaurant has been a local favorite and a Downtown landmark for over 60 years! “Carl’s”, as you may hear it called, is known for their thin crust pizza and various pasta creations, but they also offer a wide variety of American dishes and seafood specialties. I typically order the spaghetti, which comes with an awesome giant meatball. Their Spinach Ravioli is a very close second place choice for me. My husband’s favorite dish is their homemade lasagna, with their homemade Italian sausage, loads of mozzarella cheese, and sliced hard-boiled egg baked right in the layers! Before I moved to Kenosha, I had never heard of such a thing! Villa also features seasonal outdoor dining and a newly remodeled bar area. What can be better than a leisurely dinner outside in the fresh air, delicious food and drinks and time well spent with loved ones? You can also order food and pizza to go – their pizza is some of the best in town!

There are many additional Italian restaurants, markets and venues that service Italian cuisine in Kenosha, but are just a few of my favorites! I still have more to try after living here for over three years now. Whether you like your pizza cut into squares or triangles, or if your preference is Marinara sauce or Alfredo, there is something for everyone when it comes to Italian dining in Kenosha. You may very well see me out and about soon at one of these fine local establishments and if you do, don’t hesitate to say “Ciao”!  Buon Appetito!
