It’s February and you know what that means right? It’s “Foodie February”!

It isn’t a secret that Kenosha offers a variety of restaurants with delicious menus for every food fanatic. There is everything from fine dining to neighborhood pubs depending on what mood you’re in. Gastro pubs are a widly popular spot to grab drinks and great food! If you like to unwind after a long day of work then “The Garage” located on the corner of 60th Street and 30th Avenue, is the best place in town! Pull up a stool and pick from an array of beers on tap as well as delicious food like the spicy fried pickles that are sure to leave your mouth watering in a good way! The Garage is perfect for anyone looking to take a load off with great service, food, and friends. Be sure to check out their specials and fun nights like bingo and trivia night!

Another awesome pub in the area is “Captain Mike’s” who, in my opinion, have the best burgers around! With a huge variety of beers and delicious appetizers like “jalapeño cheese curds” there’s no way you’re leaving here hungry or unsatisfied. However, that is not all they have to offer. For example, in the summertime you can enjoy items like oysters while sitting on the outdoor patio taking in the sunshine. This bar isn’t just another burger place it is THE burger place to eat when you have a huge appetite for food and fun! Located downtown near the Lake Michigan shore it is the perfect spot for grabbing lunch or dinner on a beautiful day.

Another pub and possibly my favorite is “Johnny’Z Pour House” in Pleasant Prairie (on Sheridan Road). This is the perfect neighborhood bar to hang with friends and watch a game on one of the many tv’s or make it a date night and grab a drink and shoot some pool. They have many delicious items on their menu including the Chicken Dinner which in the words of my husband was “the best chicken I’ve ever had.” As well as the “green grilled cheese” that is a cheesy twist on a traditional American favorite. I love the atmosphere here and the staff are always friendly and inviting.

You may have passed by these places often and never realized that they are more than a “bar and grill”. They are the places where laughter and great food are shared between friends. Where the hardworking men and women of Kenosha go to have a good time and leave all of their troubles at the door. Where your everyday person is welcomed with open arms and served with pride and integrity by the ones who make these locally owned restaurants a great place for all. So tell a friend, make a plan, and come down to one of these “Food-tas-tic” pubs to enjoy great food, friends, and most importantly fun.
