The History

For 11 years, we participated in the Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s Big Bundle Up (and related) campaigns. It all started in late 2011 as The Great Lakes Mitten Campaign. This was in light of all the buzz surrounding the image of a Wisconsin-shaped mitten on TravelWisconsin.com and its social media sites. Thus, Travel Wisconsin (the Wisconsin Department of Tourism) and Pure Michigan joined forces to collect mittens for charity.

Starting in 2022, the Wisconsin Department of Tourism began focusing its attention on another holiday philanthropy effort and Visit Kenosha continued with the winter-wear collection drive.

Through January 2023, Visit Kenosha has collected more than 11,900 items since the original charity drive started.
